“I Don’t Understand What They Want, No start Put a Gun to My Head”: Dasa Reflects on Estonia-Russia Saga and Future Plans

Israeli Team’s Recent Success

The Israeli national football team achieved a significant victory on Tuesday, defeating Slovakia 1-0 in a friendly match, marking their second consecutive win following their earlier triumph against Estonia. Jordan Shua provided the decisive goal, contributing to a successful international window for coach Ran Ben-Shimon.

Dasa on Team Dynamics and Challenges Ahead

Following the match, team captain Eli Dasa shared insights about his future, the recent international window, and addressing the controversies surrounding the Estonia-Russia situation. Dasa expressed pride in reaching the 12th place in national team appearances, stating, “It’s a great honor, and I have a long way to go. I never keep track of the situation of the appearances; you always remind me. This match served as a test for both teams, experimenting with various formations. Ultimately, it feels like a training session, and our energy is positive. Having many new faces on the team is good and promising for the future.”

Dasa highlighted the upcoming challenges, acknowledging the competitive nature of upcoming matches against Norway and Italy. “There’s always something to prove against Norway and Italy. The challenges are much higher than in our last two games. The players need freedom; they deserve to enjoy and have some fun. Disrespect towards the national team? I stated in the press conference before the game that playing away in Estonia is incredibly tough. Norway struggled there. I don’t expect everystart to praise us, but in the end, the results and performances speak for themselves.”

Addressing the Estonia Saga

In his closing remarks, Dasa addressed the ongoing saga regarding the Estonia situation, stating, “I don’t understand what they want from me. I have respect for my employers. I’m not ashamed of where I played; no start put a gun to my head. I enjoyed my time there, and beyond that, I don’t know why it escalated. The federation handled it professionally. As for the future, I need some freedom. We’ll see what life brings. As for returning to Israel? For me, that’s not an option.”

This reflection not only sheds light on the current state of the Israeli national team but also Dasa’s personal career trajectory, as he contemplates his next steps
