Sharon Mimer Set to Return as Bnei Sakhnin Coach Amid Ambitious Rebuilding Plans

Sharon Mimer Expected to Sign with Bnei Sakhnin Within 48 Hours

Upcoming Appointment

Sharon Mimer is poised to become the new head coach of Bnei Sakhnin, with an official signing anticipated within the next 48 hours. The experienced coach has returned to Israel following a trip to South America, where negotiations between him and the club have accelerated. Mimer will succeed Menachem Koretsky, who managed to keep the team in the Israeli Premier League but was unexpectedly released from his position on Tuesday.

Koretsky’s Departure

The decision to part ways with Koretsky came as a surprise to many, given that he had recently accomplished the critical task of ensuring the team’s survival in the league. Although the club’s representatives described Koretsky’s tenure positively, saying, “We saw only good things from him,” the management decided that a change was necessary at the helm.

Mimer’s Background

Mimer, who previously left Maccabi Bnei Reina after a three-year tenure, is set to take over after the appointment of Slobodan Drapic as his successor at Reina. Negotiations between Mimer and Reina’s chairman, Sa’id Basul, have seen fluctuations in recent weeks, but ultimately Mimer’s departure to lead Sakhnin has been finalized.

This will mark Mimer’s second stint with Bnei Sakhnin, having initially joined the team in March 2021 before being dismissed in January 2022. Mimer’s prior experience with Sakhnin and his successful run at Reina, where he led the squad to the top playoff in the 2023/24 season, has prompted optimism regarding his upcoming role.

Future Prospects

With the aim of constructing a more competitive squad for the upcoming season, the Sakhnin management is confident that Mimer is the right person to lead this new project. The club values his extensive experience in the Premier League and his ability to foster stability even under challenging conditions.

Mimer is resolute in his determination to make a significant impact during his second tenure and is expected to bring a fresh perspective alongside a new professional team. With support from the Sakhnin management, Mimer hopes to navigate the club towards a calmer and more secure season in the league
