Updates on Communication Accessibility for Sabbath Observers Amid Iran Threats
Efforts to Maintain Radio Coverage
In light of a recent surprise attack against Iran, the Ministry of Communications has announced significant measures to keep Sabbath observers informed. Effective immediately, broadcasts from Israel Defense Forces Radio (Galey Tzahal) will now be accessible through AM transmitters. This initiative was implemented in collaboration with the National Emergency Authority and Bezeq, the primary telecommunications company in Israel.
The AM transmitters are broadcasting on frequency 1,287 kHz in the Akko and northern regions, and on 945 kHz from the Haifa area and southwards. The ministry explained that AM transmitters provide near-national radio coverage, including inside protected and sheltered areas, unlike FM transmitters, which may have limited reception in enclosed spaces.
Silent Broadcasts During Sabbath
To accommodate Sabbath observers, a quiet broadcast wave will be active during the Sabbath on several stations and frequencies, listed as follows:
- Radio Morashot: 90.5, 90.8, 92.5, 100.7
- Radio Darom: 101.5
- Galey Yisrael: 94, 106.5, 89.3
- Kol Chai: 92.8, 93, 102.5
- Kol B’Rama: 92.1, 104.3, 105.7 (location-based alerts), and 107.6 for general alerts.
These updates are crucial for ensuring that individuals observing the Sabbath can remain informed about any developments regarding the current situation.
Public Outreach and Emergency Contact
For public inquiries, the Ministry of Communications has set up an emergency contact center accessible via telephstart at 4928*. Additionally, inquiries can be directed to the ministry’s email: [email protected].
This timely move reflects the government’s commitment to balancing national security priorities while respecting the practstart and needs of Sabbath observers throughout the nation
