We wish you much success in your future endeavors.”
Career Highlights at Maccabi Tel Aviv
Over four seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Kanikovski made significant contributions, scoring 27 goals and providing 46 assists across 194 appearances in all competitions. He was instrumental in the team’s success, helping secure five trophies, including two league championships (2023/24 and 2024/25), two Toto cups (2023/24 and 2024/25), and a Super Cup title in 2024/25. Kanikovski, who began his career in the club’s youth academy before returning from Maccabi Netanya in the summer of 2021, leaves a lasting impact on the club.
Emotional Farewell from Kanikovski
Shortly after Maccabi’s announcement, Kanikovski shared a heartfelt farewell to the club and its fans via social media. He reflected on his four years with Maccabi, noting, “I learned what it means to be part of something bigger than myself. You, the fans, staff, and friends, never left my side, even in tough times.” He emphasized the deeper connections he made at Maccabi, stating, “Maccabi Tel Aviv is much more than just football. It’s a symbol, a heart, and a family.”
Kanikovski continued, expressing his bittersweet feelings: “Even if things didn’t work out in the end, it’s okay, and that happens.” He highlighted the adventure awaiting him and reassured fans that while he is physically departing, his heart will always remain with Maccabi. “I love you all. Forever. Good luck to us all, and go Maccabi!”
Contract Details with Ferencváros
Kanikovski’s transfer to Ferencváros was partly influenced by Maccabi’s disappointing offer of €380,000, which he felt did not reflect his value. Expressing his feelings of disappointment, he indicated he would not consider offers below €500,000. While Ferencváros initially presented a lower offer than CSKA Sofia, factors such as the club’s location, the involvement of former Maccabi coach Robbie Keane, and a subsequent improved offer of €600,000 ultimately led to his decision to join the Hungarian side.
With a three-year contract on the horizon with Ferencváros, Kanikovski’s next chapter is set to begin under familiar circumstances. The midfielder is expected to contribute significantly to his new team, continuing his professional journey in European football
