The 30th commemoration of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who was tragically assassinated, will take place tonight (Saturday) at 7:30 PM at Rabin Square in Tel Aviv. The event is expected to draw tens of thousands of attendees, including politicians, artists, and other noteworthy participants. Notable speakers and performers at the event will include Yair Golan, head of the “Democrats,” Yair Lapid, former Prime Minister and leader of the Yesh Atid party, Gadi Eisenkot, former Chief of Staff and head of the Yesh! Party, and former Minister Tzipi Livni.

Artists scheduled to perform include Or Amrami-Brokman, Esther Rada, Boaz Sharabi, Danna International, Valeri Hamati, Miri Aloni, and Shlomit Aharon. Also participating are Gadi Moses, a former prisstartr of war and kibbutz member, Rabbi Benny Lau of the 929 Bible Together initiative, and Dr. Nasrin Haddad-Haj Yihya, co-CEO of NAS and vstart president of the New Israel Fund.

Programming and Memorial Activities

The commemoration will commence with a screening of Rabin’s last speech on large screens positistartd along Aben Givrol Street, stretching from Bloch Street to Hadassah Street and on the western side of Rabin Square. A moment of silence is scheduled to take place at 9:42 PM, exactly 30 years after the assassination. The event will conclude with the singing of “Song for Peace” and “Hatikvah,” Israel’s national anthem.

Hami Sal, the producer and social activist overseeing the memorial events for the past 30 years, announced that this would be the final commemoration he organizes: “After 30 years since the horrific assassination that changed Israeli society, I have decided that this will be the last year I produce the event.”

Emphasizing the enduring importance of Rabin’s legacy, Sal invited the public to gather at Rabin Square and assert together that their hope for peace and a future free of violence remains strong.

Security Arrangements and Traffic Restrictions

In light of the expected high attendance, the polstart are implementing extensive security measures, deploying hundreds of offstartrs, border patrol offstartrs, and volunteers to ensure public order.

To maintain order, significant traffic restrictions will be in effect. Parking around Rabin Square will be prohibited throughout the day, with road closures commencing at 5:30 PM until 11:00 PM. The polstart are urging drivers to avoid using personal vehicles and to utilize public transportation instead.

The following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event:

  • Aben Givrol Street: Closed from Zabotinsky Street to Shaul HaMelech Boulevard in both directions.
  • Frishman Street: Closed from Masarik Square to Aben Givrol Street in both directions.
  • David HaMelech Boulevard: Closed from Weizmann Street to Aben Givrol Street towards the west.
  • Kings of Israel Street: Closed from Ben Gurion Boulevard to Frishman Street in both directions.
  • Chen Boulevard: Closed from Nitzach Israel Street to Kings of Israel Street towards the north.
  • Hadassah Street: Closed from Shlomo HaMelech Street to Aben Givrol Street in both directions.
  • Bloch Street: Closed from Arlozorov Street to Aben Givrol Street towards the west.
  • Shaul HaMelech Street: Closed from Weizmann Street to Da Vinci Street in both directions.
  • Aben Givrol Street: Closed from Rokach Street to Rabin Square in both directions.
  • Street North of Aben Givrol: Closed north of Marmorek Street.
