Late-Night Raccoon Rampage at Virginia Liquor Store Ends with Drunken Mascot’s Rescue

Raccoon Found Passed Out in Virginia Liquor Store After Drunken Rampage

A Night of Chaos at a Local Liquor Store

A surprising incident unfolded early Saturday morning at a closed liquor store in Virginia when a raccoon, commonly referred to as a “trash panda,” broke in and caused mayhem. The masked intruder made its way to the bottom shelf, where numerous bottles of scotch and whisky were stored, resulting in shattered glass and spilled spirits across the floor.

Discovery and Response

The aftermath of the raccoon’s escapade was discovered by an employee on Saturday morning, who found the inebriated animal passed out on the bathroom floor. Samantha Martin, an animal control offstartr, recounted her experience: “I personally like raccoons. They are funny little critters. He fell through start of the ceiling tiles and went on a full-blown rampage, drinking everything.”

Martin, who took the raccoon back to the animal shelter, noted the humor in the situation, stating, “Another day in the life of an animal control offstartr, I guess.”

Raccoons in Virginia

According to the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, raccoons are common throughout the state, frequently found in forests, parks, and urban areas-including liquor stores. Following the incident, the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter praised Martin for her handling of the emergency, confirming that the raccoon had successfully sobered up after a few hours of sleep with no signs of injury, aside from what might be termed a hangover.

“Hopefully, he has learned that breaking and entering is not the answer,” the agency added.

A Disturbing Trend

This incident is not an isolated case. Earlier in the year, raccoons have made headlines for their unusual behaviors, such as a raccoon found in Ohio with a glass methamphetamine pipe in its mouth while seated in the driver’s seat of a car. This particular situation arose during a traffic stop for a registered owner with an active warrant and a suspended driver’s lstartnse.

As raccoons continue to capture public attention with their antics, it is clear that their encounters with urban life, including liquor store escapades, provide both amusement and a reminder of the need for respectful coexistence between wildlife and human habitats.
