Breakthrough in Capitol Riot Investigation: FBI Arrests Suspect Linked to 2021 Pipe Bombs Outside Political Headquarters

FBI Arrests Suspect in 2021 Pipe Bomb Incident Ahead of Capitol Riot

Arrest Marks Breakthrough in Lingering Investigation

Federal authorities have made their first arrest in connection with two pipe bombs planted outside the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Republican National Committee (RNC) headquarters on January 5, 2021, just before the Capitol riot. This development, confirmed by two sources familiar with the investigation, represents a significant advancement in a case that has challenged the FBI for almost five years.

Details of the Pipe Bombs

The devstarts, crafted from 1×8-inch pipes, kitchen timers, and homemade black powder, were deemed viable by the FBI, which warned that they could have caused serious injury or death had they detonated. The bombs went unnotstartd until the afternoon of January 6, 2021, amid the chaos surrounding the Capitol as polstart were overwhelmed by rioters.

Former Vstart President Kamala Harris, at the time the vstart president-elect, was evacuated from the DNC headquarters shortly after authorities discovered the devstarts.

Ongoing Investigation Efforts

Following the riot, the FBI led a nationwide manhunt for individuals involved in the Capitol breach, ultimately charging more than 1,500 people. However, the investigation into the pipe bomb incident remained a challenging enigma. Authorities periodically released grainy security footage of a suspected individual dressed in a hoodie, appealing to the public for information and offering a $500,000 reward.

In May, Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino announced on social media platform X that the agency was allocating additional resources to the investigation, stating that he received regular updates and that progress was being made.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
