Shocking Encounter: Brisbane Woman Wakes to Find Python Wrapped Around Her
Late-Night Surprise
Rachel Blore, a resident of Brisbane, Australia, will never forget her Monday night experience when she woke up to a heavy sensation on her abdomen. Initially believing it to be her pet dog, she reached down to pet what she thought was a familiar presence, only to discover it was something far more alarming.
A Python in the Bedroom
When Blore’s husband awoke and turned on the bedside lamp, the couple was met with a terrifying sight: a 2.5-meter-long carpet python had coiled itself around Blore’s midsection. “My husband said to me, ‘Oh, don’t move. There’s a 2.5-meter python on you,'” Blore recounted to BBC.
Concerned for the safety of their two Dalmatian dogs, Blore asked her husband to remove them from the room, fearing a bloody confrontation could occur if the dogs encountered the massive snake. “I thought if my Dalmatians realized there was a snake there, it would be a bloodbath. I was worried about the dogs,” she commented.
A Calm Escape
After ensuring the dogs were safely outside the room, Blore attempted to carefully slide out of bed without provoking the snake. “I just tried to sneak under the covers and out of the bed. I kept thinking, ‘Is this really happening? This is so bizarre,'” she explained.
Once she successfully freed herself and distanced herself from the python, Blore moved to the bedroom window in an attempt to coax the snake back outside. “It was so big; even though it was curled around me, part of its tail was still outside the blinds. I grabbed it, and it didn’t even seem too scared. It was just hanging in my hand,” she shared.
Familiarity with Snakes
Fortunately for Blore, her upbringing in an area frequented by snakes had prepared her for such encounters. “I think when you are calm, they are calm too,” she said with a smile, after safely releasing the python back into the wild.
Her story serves as a strange yet reassuring reminder that encounters with wildlife, while startling, can sometimes resolve peacefully with a calm approach.
