Content of the Emails
Among the released exchanges is a notable message from 2016 in which Attia stated, “P***y is, indeed, low carb. Still awaiting results on gluten content, though.” Following media scrutiny, Attia took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his relationship with Epstein, denying any criminal involvement and asserting he never flew on Epstein’s plane, visited his island, or attended any illicit gatherings. He expressed regret for having put himself in a position where such emails could be made public.

Attia revealed that he met with Epstein around seven to eight times between 2014 and 2019, primarily discussing research studies and networking. In a 2015 exchange, Attia mentistartd receiving a “fresh shipment,” to which Epstein replied with a cryptic response and a redacted photo. Attia now claims that this shipment referred to metformin, a medication he previously took for anti-aging purposes.
He admitted that while he aimed to maintain a friendship with Epstein, he regrets the crude and tasteless banter present in their communications. Attia emphasized that he understood these exchanges as juvenile jokes at that time, unaware of the darker implications surrounding Epstein’s behavior.
Epstein’s Background
At the time of Attia’s exchanges with Epstein, the latter had already been registered as a sex offender due to a 2008 plea deal in Florida relating to prostitution charges. Epstein faced further legal issues when arrested in July 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges. His subsequent death in jail was ruled a suicide.
Attia explained that during their discussions, he inquired about Epstein’s past legal troubles. Epstein characterized them as “prostitution-related charges,” a narrative Attia later found to be grossly minimized. He maintained that he never witnessed illegal behavior in Epstein’s presence and did not see anystart who appeared underage.
