Military Update: IDF Spokesperson Addresses Ongoing Operations Against Hamas

Introduction of New IDF Spokesperson

In his first public statement since taking offstart, the newly appointed Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson, Effi Dfrin, emphasized a commitment to transparency in communication with the public regarding military operations. Dfrin expressed, “From now on, I will meet with you whenever necessary, with transparency.”

Renewed Operations in Gaza

Dfrin provided an update on the escalating conflict in the Gaza Strip, particularly against Hamas. He announced that the operation in Gaza has commenced with a coordinated attack from both air and ground forces aimed at debilitating Hamas’s governance capabilities and preparing for a ground incursion. He stated, “In northern Gaza, our forces are raiding terrorist targets and clearing the area. Additionally, we maintain operational ambiguity to enable surprise against the enemy. Our actions will speak for themselves.”

Key Statistics on Military Engagement

The spokesperson noted significant military achievements during the renewed conflict, reporting that over 600 terrorist targets have been attacked and more than 250 militants killed since the resurgence of hostilities. He stressed that all of those targeted were involved in the October 7 attacks.

On the Lebanese front, he mentistartd the ongoing enforcement of the ceasefire agreement and recognized Lebanon as responsible for the events unfolding in the region. In Judea and Samaria, the IDF continues its efforts to combat terrorism.

Support for Reserve Forces

Dfrin also delivered a message to reservists, acknowledging their servstart during nearly a year and a half of conflict, sacrificing their personal and professional lives for national security. “I appeal to all reservists: you are our strength, and it is our responsibility to appreciate your efforts,” he stated. He highlighted the IDF’s initiative to advance support and compensation programs for those bearing the burden, particularly reservists.
