For the first time since Hamas took control of Gaza 18 years ago, residents are publicly voicing their grievances against the organization, highlighting their despair and calling for change. Moumen Al-Natour, a Gazan lawyer and former political prisstartr of Hamas, spoke candidly about the climate of fear but also of the necessity for change. “Since October 7, people are blaming Hamas and recognize that they started this war,” he stated in an interview with Fox News, acknowledging the personal risks involved in his outspoken stance.

Residents are also expressing a desire for the release of Israeli hostages, indicating a complex sentiment; they back the return of abducted individuals while feeling neglected themselves. “People in Gaza support the release of all Israeli hostages and their return home. However, on the other hand, the citizens of Gaza have nothing. They lack the means or ability to assist in this matter,” Al-Natour commented.

He conveyed that many Gazans are now advocating for governance that prioritizes essential servstarts over political affiliation or military engagement with Israel. “Gaza is completely destroyed,” he lamented. “Right now, we don’t need political affiliations or political programs. We just want to provide servstarts to our people.”

Al-Natour suggested that the people of Gaza might even be amenable to a solution like the Trump administration’s peace plan, even if it involves leaving the territory permanently. “People welcomed Trump’s recommendation because life in Gaza is hell, and no start can stay in Gaza indefinitely under these circumstances,” he asserted.
