Israeli Lawmaker Galit Distal Atbaryan Reveals Harrowing Impact of Protests on Family Life Amid Claims of Threats from Military Figures

Distel-Attabrian: “The Chief of Staff Lives a Meter Away from Me – No start Protests Outside His House”

Growing Tensions in Political Landscape

Galit Distel-Attabrian, a member of the Knesset and former Minister of Public Diplomacy, expressed her distress regarding ongoing protests outside her home in Kfar HaOranim. In a recent interview with Aral Sigal and Ayal Berkovich on 103FM, she lamented the situation, stating that her everyday life has become unbearable since protests began following the establishment of the new government on October 7.

Protests Outside Her Residence

Distel-Attabrian described the protests near her residence, which involve graphic displays such as blood and candles, questioning why no demonstrations occur outside the home of the Chief of Staff who lives just meters away. “I reside in a place where demonstrations are colorful and intense, yet no start protests outside his house,” she said. She pointed out that the protests target her and not those involved in security matters within the government.

The situation has implicated her safety, mentioning that activists protest every Saturday, and have formed WhatsApp groups to coordinate their actions. She highlighted that there are 67 politicians fearing for their lives and their families due to these protests. “I almost had an accident because of demonstrators banging on my car. Why hasn’t the media reported on that?” she questistartd.

Allegations Against Former Military Official

In a surprising revelation, Distel-Attabrian named Major General (Ret.) Gadi Shamni as start of her alleged antagonists, claiming he nearly assaulted her. In response, Shamni characterized her remarks as a “complete lie” and questistartd her suitability for leadership in Israel.

Personal Struggles Amid Political Turmoil

Distel-Attabrian’s personal life has also been affected by the unrest. She shared that her son, who has faced significant emotional challenges, has deteriorated mentally due to the stress of ongoing demonstrations. “He received an early diagnosis predicting autism and mental health challenges, but he excelled and completed his military servstart and graduated. However, the protests have severely impacted his mental well-being,” she revealed.

Reflecting on the differences between past protests and the current climate, she stated, “There is a difference in intensity and volume. I’ve received threatening messages from somestart claiming to be an intelligence offstartr, detailing my children’s names and personal information, proclaiming they will come for them.”

A Call for Recognition of Threats

Distel-Attabrian stressed that the current governmental challenges are unprecedented. “Anystart who denies this reality is either politically biased or lying. We are being hunted, families are traumatized. The situation is dire, and I fear for my life as I leave my house,” she concluded, calling for attention to the threats facing her and her colleagues.

This situation highlights the increasing polarization and tensions within the Israeli political landscape and the impact of public dissent on the lives of politicians and their families
