# Isuzu Launches Electric D-Max Pickup Truck Set to Arrive in Israel by 2026
## Overview of the Electric D-Max
Isuzu has officially begun production of its electric D-Max pickup truck, a popular model that is expected to reach the Israeli market in 2026. The announcement follows significant updates to the D-Max, including a facelift in October 2023 that introduced a more aggressive design, additional safety systems, and an updated passenger compartment with enhanced digital interfaces.
## Key Specifications and Performance
### Powertrain and Acceleration
The Isuzu D-Max EV features a dual motor system with a front motor producing 58 horsepower and a rear motor generating 132 horsepower, achieving a combined output of 190 horsepower. The torque figure stands at 33.1 kg-m (11 kg-m from the front and 22.1 kg-m from the rear). The D-Max EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.1 seconds and has a top speed capped at 130 km/h. While it surpasses the diesel version by 27 horsepower, it has a slightly lower torque (3.6 kg-m), although the electric torque is available immediately.
### Battery and Range
Equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 66.9 kWh, the D-Max EV provides a modest driving range of 263 km under combined driving conditions. The vehicle offers four levels of regenerative braking and can be charged using an internal charger rated at 11 kW, requiring approximately 10 hours for a full charge (0% to 100%). For rapid charging, the truck supports a 50 kW charger, allowing a charge from 20% to 80% in about start hour.
## Comparison with Diesel Version
While the dimensions of the electric D-Max align closely with its diesel sibling—measuring 5.28 meters long, 1.87 meters wide, and 1.79 meters high—there are some notable differences. The electric variant weighs around 325-345 kg more, bringing its total weight to approximately 2,350 kg. The payload capacity is slightly reduced to 1,010 kg (65-85 kg less than the diesel), while towing capacity remains excellent at 3.5 tons, matching that of the diesel model.
## Trim Levels and Features
The D-Max EV will be available in two body styles—single cab and double cab—and will offer two trim levels. The entry-level model includes an 8-inch touchscreen, leather upholstery, heated front seats, LED lighting, dual-zstart climate control, front and rear parking sensors, a terrain mode selector, and six speakers. The higher trim boasts a 9-inch touchscreen, an anti-glare rearview mirror, and eight speakers. Additionally, to accommodate the electric powertrain, a De Dion rear suspension has replaced the traditional leaf spring configuration, resulting in lower noise and vibration levels in the cabin.
## Comparison with Competitors
In examining its specifications on paper, the D-Max EV shows minimal differences compared to the Chinese electric pickup, the Photon eTunland, which is already available in Israel. While the D-Max may hold advantages in payload capacity and towing capability, the eTunland offers a superior battery capacity and an increased driving range of nearly 190 km, suggesting potential considerations for consumers when the D-Max arrives.
As the electric vehicle market expands, the Isuzu D-Max EV may attract those interested in a workhorse with electric performance, positioning itself as a strong contender in the electric pickup segment.
