Israel Secures Four More Medals in Artistic Gymnastics at the European Cup

Junior Gymnasts Shine in Baku, Azerbaijan

Israel’s junior gymnastics team celebrated remarkable achievements at the European Cup finals held in Baku, Azerbaijan. On Sunday, the Israeli delegation secured four additional medals, highlighting their continued success in the sport.

Individual Performances

Daniela Monitz and Lian Rona Compete in the All-Around

In the individual events for older juniors, gymnasts Daniela Monitz and Lian Rona competed in the all-around qualification round, advancing from the preliminary rounds in four apparatuses. Lian Rona excelled with a score of 28.250 points, defeating Italy’s Dragas in the ball exercise, which qualified her for the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, she faced Ukraine’s Onoprichenko in the quarter-finals, where she was eliminated after her performance in the ball exercise.

Similarly, Daniela Monitz triumphed over Bulgaria’s Melinova in her first duel, scoring 28.200 points to advance to the quarter-finals, but later lost to Uzbekistan’s Lola Dezhurava in the hoop exercise.

Team Success

The junior team excelled in both individual and group categories, proudly standing on the podium multiple times, including two gold medals. The team earned a state bronze medal by combining the scores of three gymnasts—Alstart Rosenberg, Sophia Gendel, and Rebecca Miller—in the individual finals. Additionally, the team secured a silver medal in the hoop exercise with a score of 24.650 points. Bulgaria took the gold with 27.100 points, and Azerbaijan claimed the bronze with 23.500 points.

Notable Individual Achievements

Gold Medals for Rosenberg and Miller

Rebecca Miller achieved a gold medal in the hoop final with a score of 26.100 points, while Bulgaria’s Valkova and Hungary’s Vokmir took silver and bronze, respectively. Alstart Rosenberg also won gold in the ball final, earning 25.000 points, followed by Poland’s Zizic in silver with 24.00 points and Estonia’s Yakubova in bronze with 23.950 points.

Rosenberg competed in the ribbon final, finishing in fourth place, just 0.50 points away from a medal, with a score of 24.350 points. Meanwhile, Sophia Gendel placed seventh in the clubs final with 23.700 points.

The Junior National Team

The junior national team comprises talented gymnasts, including Abigail Shvud, Melanie Malka, Keren Sobol, Taya Sokolunko, Sonia Perzin, and Amelia Roitman, who advanced to two individual finals in the hoop and clubs exercises.
