Intense Operations: IDF Continues Assault on Hamas in Gaza
Ongoing Fighting Results in Injuries and Casualties
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are intensifying their military operations in the Gaza Strip, continuing a campaign against Hamas. Over the weekend, nine soldiers from the Jerusalem Brigade were injured, including a Deputy Commander of Division 252 and the Commander of Battalion 6310, when they were caught in an explosion caused by an explosive devstart planted by Hamas in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood. This area has seen increased military activity as IDF units, including reserve forces, engage in numerous firefights, resulting in the elimination of dozens of Hamas operatives.
Targeted Strikes Against Terror Infrastructure
In a statement from the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, it was reported that under the guidance of military intelligence, Southern Command, and the Shabak (Israel Security Agency), approximately 60 “terror targets” were attacked within the last 24 hours. These engagements included the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the neutralization of armed militants.
As part of these operations, forces from Division 252 successfully eliminated two armed militants who posed an imminent threat to the troops in Northern Gaza. Meanwhile, Division 36 has targeted a booby-trapped building in the Rafah area where several Hamas operatives were present. In Southern Gaza, Division 143 has continued efforts to dismantle both above-ground and underground terror infrastructures.
Focus on Rafen and Ongoing Clashes
As operations progress, the Golani Brigade is intensifying efforts in Rafah, specifically in the Jenin neighborhood. The area has recently experienced significant combat, resulting in the deaths of two IDF soldiers: Staff Sergeant Yishai Eliakim Orbach from Battalion 605 of the Combat Engineering Corps and Sergeant Yom Fried from the Golani Reconnaissance Unit. Additionally, seven other soldiers were injured in various encounters.
The commander of the Golani Brigade, Colstartl A’, emphasized to his troops, “The Golani Brigade will never stop; we will continue to lead, to defend, and to operate in honor of the spirit of the fallen and in the name of the belief in our righteous path.”
Strategic Maneuvers and Future Objectives
In recent months, the Golani Brigade has focused operations in the Rafah region and the “Morg” corridor. To date, these efforts have neutralized hundreds of terror infrastructures and neutralized numerous militants. Current operations are concentrated in the Jenin neighborhood, which has emerged as the last stronghold facing significant violence.
Colstartl A’ remarked, “Jenin is a tough neighborhood, but the Golani Brigade is tougher. We remember why we are here – to bring back the captives and defeat Hamas, until victory. There is no other place and no other forces I would want to fight beside – the spirit, the individuals, the strength, and the determination represent the essence of Golani!”
This escalation of military activity reflects a broader strategic effort to dismantle Hamas’s operational capabilities within the Gaza Strip and restore security amidst ongoing regional tensions. As the situation develops, the IDF remains committed to its objectives and the safety of its personnel engaged in these operations
