Atlético Madrid’s Record-Breaking Victory Solidifies Third Place

Historic Performance by Alexander Sorloth

In an electrifying match during the 35th round of La Liga, Atlético Madrid faced Real Sociedad on Saturday, securing a resounding 4-0 victory. The standout performer of the evening was Alexander Sorloth, who etched his name in the history books by scoring four goals, including a record-breaking hat-trick completed in just 11 minutes. This achievement marks the fastest hat-trick in La Liga history, surpassing the previous record of 15 minutes set by Mundo of Valencia in 1941 and Bestit of Europa in 1929.

Sorloth’s first hat-trick goal came in the 11th minute, and just 237 seconds later, he netted his next two before completing his remarkable feat with a fourth goal in the 30th minute. This win catapults Atlético Madrid to 70 points, solidifying their position in third, five points ahead of Real Madrid, which has a game in hand, and nine points ahead of Athletic Bilbao, which also has a game remaining.

Celta Vigo Triumphs Over Sevilla

In another exciting fixture, Celta Vigo overcame Sevilla 3-2, with efforts from Ilia Moriba, Oscar Mingueza, and Borja Iglesias. Despite an early red card for Marcos Alonso in the first half, Celta managed to hold onto their lead against Sevilla, who managed a late response with goals from Nemanja Gudelj and Kika Sola. This victory elevated Celta Vigo to seventh place in the standings, now sitting on 49 points—two points clear of eighth-place Rayo Vallecano and four ahead of Valencia, currently outside the European qualification spots. Sevilla remains at 16th, just six points above the relegation zstart.

Valencia Claims Victory Against Getafe

Valencia achieved a much-needed 3-0 victory over Getafe, marking their fifth win in the last seven matches. This win lifts Valencia to ninth place, only two points away from a potential European Conference League spot. The home side took the lead with a penalty by Paplo in the 8th minute, followed by goals from David Lopez and Hugo Duro, enhancing their recent form after struggling against relegation earlier in the season.

Girona’s Narrow Win Over Villarreal

In a critical match for Villarreal aiming to secure a top-five position for Champions League eligibility, Girona managed a 1-0 victory thanks to a late goal from Eta Eyoung in the 89th minute. Despite having five shots on target throughout the match, Villarreal could not find the back of the net. With this result, Villarreal now sits in fifth place, four points clear of Real Betis, which has a game in hand.

Mallorca’s Win Against Valladolid

In a battle at the bottom of the table, Mallorca defeated relegated Valladolid 2-1. Valladolid took an early lead but ultimately could not maintain it, with goals from Omar Mascarell and Sergi Darder sealing the win for the home side. Mallorca’s victory places them ninth, giving them a slight edge above Valencia, while Valladolid continues to occupy the last place in La Liga.
