Amid Security Concerns, Beitar Jerusalem Delays Training for Foreign Players as Season Preparations Commence

Uncertainty Surrounds Beitar Jerusalem’s Upcoming Preseason Training

Team Preparation Amid Security Concerns

In light of the ongoing security situation and conflict with Iran, Beitar Jerusalem is gearing up for the new season. The team is set to commence its training for the 2025/26 season on Monday, June 23. However, concerns regarding player availability have led to an anticipated thin roster for the first training session.

Foreign Players Given Extended Leave

Beitar has informed its two foreign players, goalkeeper Miguel Silva and defender Jean Marcelin, that they are not required to attend the opening of training and may take additional days off until the security situation in Israel stabilizes. Notably, other foreign players who contributed last season-including Myron George, Ismaela Soro, Jacob Genu, and Patrick Twamsi-have already been released from their contracts.

New Signing Yet to Join

The club’s new striker, John Bosco Kalu, who has already signed a contract, will also be absent from the opening training session. Due to the transfer window in Sweden not opening until July 13, he cannot officially join Beitar until that date. The team will be in a training camp in Bulgaria during this period, and it remains unclear whether Kalu will travel directly there or return to Israel for medical examinations first.

Israeli Players Still Abroad

Several Israeli players are also currently abroad, including head coach Barak Bachar in the United States, Omar Atzili in Dubai, and Jordan Shua and Dor Micha in Italy. Their absence adds to the uncertainty surrounding the team’s preparations for the upcoming season.

Upcoming Training Camp in Bulgaria

Beitar Jerusalem is scheduled to start its training camp in Bulgaria on July 7, where they plan to conduct three friendly matches-two against local teams and start against a Cypriot oppstartnt. The camp aims to provide the team with competitive match experience as they prepare for the challenges of the new season.

As the situation develops, Beitar Jerusalem will need to adapt quickly to ensure readiness for the upcoming campaign
