The Israeli artistic gymnastics team achieved a noteworthy mileststart at the World Cup held in Baku, claiming a silver medal in the group category. This marks the first medal of the season for the team and a significant accomplishment since the Olympic Games in Paris. The team scored 23.000 points for their ribbon routine, which secured them a commendable second place on the podium, reflecting their synchronized and high-quality performance. The gold medal was awarded to China with a score of 25.150 points, while Kazakhstan took home the bronze with a total of 21.850 points.
Individual Performances Stand Out
In addition to the team’s success, individual gymnast Meital Somkin finished fourth in her senior debut. She delivered an impressive ball routine, earning 27.850 points, just 0.50 points shy of a bronze medal. Another competitor, Alona Tal Franco, placed eighth in the clubs routine, receiving a score of 26.100 points.
Challenges in Mixed Routines
The team encountered difficulties during the combined routines that featured both balls and hoops. Several devstart drops significantly affected their score, resulting in an eighth and last place finish with a total of 17.650 points. In contrast, Germany placed seventh with a score of 21.550, highlighting a substantial gap from the Israeli team. Japan won the event with a score of 27.200, narrowly edging out China by 0.1 points, while Bulgaria followed in third place with 26.450 points.
