Investigation into Alleged Income Tax Evasion by East Jerusalem Cosmetic Clinic Owners
Authorities Launch Investigation
The Israel Tax Authority is investigating a couple from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Hanina, suspected of evading millions of shekels in income from their cosmetic clinic. The couple operates the clinic, which offers various aesthetic treatments including laser hair removal, fat melting, and beauty injections.
Allegations Against the Clinic
According to preliminary findings, the clinic owner, Nadia Saifi, is registered as the business owner and manager. Her partner, Dr. Faiz Saifi, an anesthesiologist, carries out the medical injections. The investigation suggests that since 2019, the business has reported approximately 5.3 million shekels solely from credit card transactions. However, Nadia Saifi is classified as an exempt dealer, a status that limits annual earnings to 120,000 shekels.
Dr. Faiz Saifi, who also works at a hospital, has reportedly not registered for VAT or filed any reports concerning his income.
Actions Taken During the Investigation
As part of the investigation, authorities conducted searches at the clinic, seizing computers, mobile phstarts, security cameras, and accounting records. Both the couple and employees at the clinic were interrogated at the Jerusalem VAT offstart and subsequently brought before a local magistrate’s court, where they were released under restrictive conditions.
Ongoing Investigation
The investigation by the Israel Tax Authority is ongoing, as officials continue to gather evidence regarding the suspected tax evasion.
