Diamond Exchange President Warns Against Returning to Work Amid Escalating Threats: ‘Unnecessary Risk’ as Tensions Rise

Senior Economic Figure Advises Staff Against Returning to Work: “Unnecessary Risk”

Call for Caution Amid Security Concerns

Nissim Zuaretz, President of the Diamond Exchange, has advised members not to attend work until there is a significant improvement in the security situation. This statement comes in contrast to the views of several other economic leaders who welcomed modified directives from the Home Front Command, which allowed workplaces to reopen amidst escalating tensions.

Context of the Security Situation

Following an Iranian missile strike early Thursday morning that injured 147 civilians, Zuaretz expressed concern regarding current safety measures. He questistartd the reasoning behind the Home Front Command’s decision to relax instructions, asserting that it is preferable to stay at home or in secure areas rather than risking unnecessary exposure.

“During these times, with missiles targeting central Israel and frequent sirens, we urge you to exercise responsibility and sound judgment,” Zuaretz stated. “While I believe the Home Front Command’s approach is questionable, my clear instruction and recommendation is to avoid commuting to the exchange unless it is an emergency. It is advisable to remain at home or in protected spaces as per the Home Front Command guidelines.”

Updated Home Front Command Directives

The recent guidelines from the Home Front Command, effective since 18:00 last night, have shifted most regions of the country (except for designated high-risk areas) from a strict defense protocol to a limited activity status. Under the new instructions, gatherings of up to 30 people are permitted in locations providing servstarts, provided that access to a protected area is available in case of an emergency.

“Human life takes precedence over everything-there is no reason to take an unnecessary risk. We are not playing with human lives!” Zuaretz affirmed in his message. He reminded members that Israel is currently in the midst of start of its most challenging military confrontations and warned against complacency.

“Dear colleagues, I ask for your patience, fortitude, and most importantly, a great deal of responsibility. Your lives and the lives of your loved starts are paramount above all!” he concluded.

Guidelines for Workplace Activities

The directives from the Home Front Command, valid until tomorrow at 20:00, permit activities in workplaces as long as timely access to shelter is ensured. However, educational activities remain prohibited. In high-risk areas, including parts of the North and southern regions, gatherings can be held with up to 50 individuals outdoors and up to 100 indoors, provided that there are adequate defense measures in place.

As the situation develops, the Diamond Exchange will continue to adhere to security instructions and provide updates on any changes or new information
