Beitar Jerusalem Faces Disciplinary Action Over Cup Final Incidents
Hearing at the Football Association
Beitar Jerusalem appeared today (Wednesday) before the Israel Football Association’s disciplinary tribunal in response to incidents that occurred during the State Cup Final against Hapoel Be’er Sheva last season. In that match, the southern team claimed a 2-0 victory. Following the game, several incidents led the association’s prosecutor, attorney Gilad Bergman, to charge Beitar with disciplinary offenses.
Allegations of Fan Misconduct
The charges against Beitar Jerusalem include fan disturbances, racial and/or offensive chants, and harm caused by supporters. A key incident involved allegations of racist chants purportedly directed at Be’er Sheva’s midfielder, Lucas Ventura. It is important to note that the referee’s report indicates that the officiating official did not hear these alleged racist chants.
Admission of Guilt and Penalties Imposed
Beitar Jerusalem admitted to the charges against them. As a result, the club has been fined a total of 100,000 shekels. The breakdown of the fines is as follows: 60,000 shekels for extensive pyrotechnics, 30,000 shekels for racism-related offenses, and 10,000 shekels for throwing objects.
Other Disciplinary Actions Delayed
Additionally, the tribunal was scheduled to hear cases involving M.S. Kiryat Yam, Hapoel Bu’aina, and Kfar Qanna; however, these hearings have been postpstartd to a later date.
