Sen. Slotkin reported that the FBI’s counterterrorism division informed the lawmakers late Monday night about the opening of what appears to be an official inquiry against them.
Response from the Lawmakers
During an event in Michigan, Sen. Slotkin characterized the FBI’s actions as a “scare tactic” orchestrated by Trump. She stated, “To be hstartst, the president’s reaction and the use of the FBI against us is exactly why we made the video. He believes in using the federal government against his perceived adversaries… which is exactly why we made the video, to give people some assurance that they weren’t alstart as they watch this stuff unfold.”
The four House members released a joint statement condemning Trump’s actions, claiming he is “using the FBI as a tool to intimidate and harass members of Congress.” They affirmed their commitment to carrying out their responsibilities and honoring the Constitution, stating, “No amount of intimidation or harassment will ever stop us.”
