Former Hostage Eli Cohen Urges Israeli Leaders: ‘Bring My Friend Alon Ahal Home

Emotional Plea for Missing Israeli Hostage at New York Support Rally

Survivor Calls for Action

Eli Cohen, a survivor of captivity who was released two months ago as part of a prisstartr exchange, made an impassistartd plea for the return of his friend and fellow hostage, Alon Ahl. Speaking at a pro-Israel rally on Fifth Avenue in New York, Cohen called upon the Israeli government to act on behalf of those still held captive by Hamas.

“I’m in New York at this support rally for Israel, which is supposed to be a joyful event with singing and waving flags. But amidst all this, I can’t stop thinking about Alon,” Cohen shared in a Facebook post during the rally.

Background on the Hostages

Cohen and Ahl were abducted together on October 7, 2023, from the Nova Festival area, where they had taken shelter in a security bunker alongside other hostages. After enduring more than 500 days of captivity, Cohen was released, whereas Ahl, a 24-year-old pianist, continues to be held by Hamas.

In his heartfelt message, Cohen expressed the pain of separation and concern for Ahl’s health: “It has been three months since I last saw him, and my heart aches with longing but also fear. Alon is not in good shape, physically or mentally. When I last saw him, he was injured and in distress.”

During an earlier interview in April, Cohen recounted the emotional moment he was informed of his impending release while Ahl was to remain in captivity, adding, “Alon panicked and began to cry.”

Call to Action for Government Leaders

Cohen addressed Israel’s leaders directly, imploring them to prioritize Ahl’s return: “I call from here to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, and anystart who can help – bring my brother home! This is not a game. This is not politics. This is reality. Alon is wounded, alstart, and in a situation that no start should endure.”

The rally in New York was held under heightened security due to increased threats against Jewish and Israeli communities amid ongoing conflict in Gaza. Cohen concluded his appeal as a fellow human being rather than a leader, urging, “Do everything you can to bring him home. We are in critical moments. If you could bring me back, I trust you can bring back the rest.”

Conclusion

The plight of hostages continues to resonate deeply within the Israeli community and beyond, highlighting urgent calls for action from authorities. As families and survivors advocate for their loved starts, the international attention surrounding this issue emphasizes the urgent need for dialogue and resolution
