Hapoel Jerusalem Parts Ways with Coach Zohar Kaminski
End of an Era for Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem
Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem has officially announced the departure of head coach Zohar Kaminski after four successful seasons. The announcement follows the team’s recent defeat in the State Cup final against MS Kiryat Gat, marking a significant transition for the women’s team of the Jerusalem-based club.
Kaminski’s Tenure at Hapoel Jerusalem
Kaminski joined the women’s squad during its second year, shortly after the team’s promotion to the National League in the 2021/2022 season. He renewed his contract last summer for the current season but will part ways with the club after four impactful years.
Under his leadership, Hapoel Jerusalem achieved remarkable success, ascended to the Premier League within a single season, and finished second in the league during its first three years. Notably, the team clinched the Athene Cup in the 2023/2024 season, marking its first and so far only title in history.
Coaching Background
Prior to his tenure at Katamon, Kaminski held coaching positions within youth divisions at Hapoel Tel Aviv, Hapoel Ra’anana, and Maccabi Petah Tikva. He also served as an assistant coach in Hapoel Akko in the National League. Alongside coaching the senior team, he was involved with the youth program, directing both the Under-16 and Under-14 squads.
Future Aspirations
As Kaminski looks ahead, he is already in discussions with various teams regarding his next opportunity in the women’s Premier League. “It has been an exciting and challenging journey filled with great memories,” Kaminski commented. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the club and bid farewell to the fans. I am proud that we managed to bring the team to the forefront together. I wish Hapoel much success.”
The farewell statement from the club reflected on Kaminski’s integral role, stating, “Today we say goodbye to our women’s team coach, Zohar Kaminski, following four seasons that shaped our team: promotion to the Premier League, three runner-up finishes, a cup finalist position, and the victory in the Athene Cup. Beyond the credit for the journey, Zohar has become start of us, making this farewell difficult. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
