High-Tech Mogul Moshe Yanai Faces $36 Million Lawsuit as Shintila Claims Fraud and Loan Defaults

The Decline of an Empire: Israeli Tech Entrepreneur Faces Multi-Million Dollar Lawsuit

Background on the Lawsuit

The Cayman Islands-registered loan fund “Shintila” has initiated legal proceedings against Israeli tech entrepreneur Moshe Yanai, claiming he owes approximately $36 million. The loan fund filed for bankruptcy proceedings in the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court, asserting that Yanai has failed to meet his debt obligations.

Allegations of Misconduct

According to the application, Yanai borrowed the funds through his company MII, which he co-owns with his wife, Rachel Yanai. The allegations against him include serious claims of illegal stock sales, misappropriation of funds, and breach of agreements. Shintila asserts that from 2019 to 2023, it loaned MII a total of $38 million.

In June 2023, an agreement was established requiring MII to remit any proceeds from the sale of shares of eToro—a trading platform company in its portfolio—to Shintila. However, the loan fund claims that by December 2023, when a repayment of $20 million was due, neither MII nor Yanai, who served as a guarantor, made any payments.

Additional Financial Irregularities

Shintila further alleged that in September 2024, it discovered that MII had sold shares of eToro worth approximately $7 million without transferring the required funds. Additionally, in January 2025, Yanai reportedly executed another sale of eToro shares for $10 million, this time outside of MII, in an effort to circumvent the established agreements.

Attempts at Debt Resolution

The fund also disclosed that Yanai had pledged personal assets, including a property in New York valued at about $7 million, as collateral for the loans. However, this has not led to a resolution of the outstanding debt. Notably, alongside the legal proceedings in Israel, Shintila is concurrently pursuing a lawsuit against the Yanai couple in the United States.

This case raises significant concerns within the tech investment community and highlights the complex intersection of finance and technology amidst allegations of mismanagement and breach of trust

באמת מצריך להיות בטוחים מאיזה סוג של השקעה משתמשים כדי למנוע נזקים.
