On the day of the incident, UN representatives reported the death of the employee statistartd at a UN post in Deir al-Balah. The initial investigation revealed that the fatality resulted from tank fire by an IDF unit operating in the vicinity. The structure was targeted due to suspicions that enemy forces were present, and the IDF did not identify it as a UN facility.

Ongoing Investigation

Chief of Staff Zamir has directed that the investigation be completed in the coming days, with the necessary additions to be incorporated. It is also mandated that the full findings be presented to UN representatives once the investigation concludes.
