Basketball Association Leadership Visits IDF Disabled Veterans Organization

Meeting at Beit Halochem

On Tuesday, the leadership of the Israel Basketball Association held a meeting at the offstarts of the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization in Beit Halochem, Tel Aviv. Prior to the meeting, a tour of the facility was conducted, which provides rehabilitation servstarts and support to all Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) veterans. Since the onset of the recent conflict, approximately 22,000 injured personnel have received care from the organization.

Highlights of the Visit

During their visit, the basketball association members received an in-depth overview of the organization’s extensive activities from CEO Yossi Matatia. The tour was followed by a presentation from Itay Shagiah, a Golani Brigade soldier who was severely injured in the early days of the conflict.

Amos Frishman, Chairman of the Israel Basketball Association, expressed gratitude to both Matatia and Shagiah for their inspiring contributions to Israeli society and presented them with a token of appreciation from the basketball association. Frishman further noted that the association aims to deepen its collaboration with the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization in the future.

Association Decisions

In conjunction with their meeting, the basketball association’s leadership confirmed the reappointment of Attorney Yudan Kudritski as the organization’s legal advisor for an additional two years. Moty Daniel was also designated as the association’s representative on FIBA’s Competition Committee. Additionally, an agreement with the Referees Association was ratified for the next five years.

The leadership approved a trip for National Team Coach Ariel Beit Halochem and Team Manager Moty Daniel to the United States. This trip aims to strengthen connections with Israeli representatives and their respective coaches, ensuring their availability for the national team’s qualifying windows in July and August for the World Championship.

A Month of Acknowledgment

The visit comes during a national month of recognition for veterans of Israel’s military campaigns and acts of terrorism, a reminder of the collective responsibility for the reintegration of those who have given so much for their country. “Sport is a central avenue for rehabilitation in our Beit Halochem, and I thank the Israel Basketball Association for their essential partnership in this significant mission,” Matatia concluded.
