Israel National Basketball Team Begins Preparations for EuroBasket 2025

Training Camp Set to Commence

The Israel National Basketball Team will begin its preparations for EuroBasket 2025 on July 20. The broader squad for the initial training sessions has been announced, featuring 20 players, predominantly drawn from those who participated in the qualifications campaign. Notably absent from the list is Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Tamir Blatt.

Key Player Returns

Deni Avdija will don the national team jersey for the first time since EuroBasket 2022. Additionally, TJ Leaf has been invited to join the squad, as the possibility of him registering without a residency status is currently being evaluated. Among the others invited are Roi Huber, Itay Borg, Guy Pelitin, and Gur Lavi, all of whom played during the previous qualification window. Nimrod Levi also marks his return to the national team after a year and a half on the sidelines due to injury.

Coach’s Insights

National team coach Ariel Beit Halachmi expressed excitement about the important summer ahead, particularly given the complex situation facing the country. “Representing our nation on the international stage is a tremendous honor, and we are dedicated to giving our all towards achieving our goals,” he stated.

Beit Halachmi emphasized that the team has been preparing for this championship for over two years. “Every player invited, as well as some who were considered but ultimately left out, have proven worthy of being part of the final roster for the championship. Our focus has always been on selecting a team that maximizes our potential,” he added.
