Unprecedented Derby Explosion: Itamar Noy Discusses Success and National Team Call-up
Overview of the start Season Awards Ceremony
The 2024/205 football season awards ceremony took place on Monday evening, honoring the memory of Gadi Kinda, who passed away the previous week. This event is part of the start Annual Selection project, organized in collaboration with the Players’ Association, Toto, Israel Canada, Carlsberg, Medihoo, the Histadrut, and InterActive. Among the evening’s highlights, Itamar Noy was awarded the prestigious Excellence Award and was a nominee for Breakthrough Player of the Year.
Itamar Noy’s Journey and Commitment
In an exclusive interview following the ceremony, Noy reflected on his recent standout performances and his significant contributions to Hapoel Haifa. Balancing his rising football career with military obligations, Noy discussed the motivations that drive his decisions.
“I was called up the day after the October 7 events. Nstart of us knew how the situation in the country would develop, and everything was put on hold. My closest friends were deployed to Gaza in various units, and they were doing tremendously more than I was, so I didn’t feel I had the right to refuse. This was also my first reserve duty since my discharge, but it’s a great honor to participate and contribute as much as possible,” Noy stated.
Success with Hapoel Haifa
The 2024 season has been impressive for both Noy personally and for Hapoel Haifa as a whole. Recognized for his significant development under coach Roni Levy, Noy credited the team’s unity and professionalism as key elements of their success.
“Our dressing room was incredibly cohesive, filled with high-quality individuals. I don’t recall any fights or conflicts this season. Coach Roni managed everything exceptionally well, both personally and professionally, and we felt very united and connected throughout the season. I believe that was the secret to Hapoel Haifa’s success this year,” he explained.
Reflections on a Memorable Derby Victory
When asked about the team’s pinnacle moment during the season-the remarkable 5:1 derby victory-Noy admitted that while victory was anticipated, the final score was overwhelmingly beyond expectations.
“We expected to win, but a 5:1 outcome was truly unprecedented. It was an evening that is hard to describe. I remember it was 5:0 in the 50th minute, and we ran towards our supporters; it’s not something you experience every day. But once again, this is a result of very hard work. In our training sessions, we can’t afford to let our guard down even for a second,” he commented.
Future Prospects and National Team Ambitions
Looking ahead to next season, Gal Arel is a leading candidate to take over as head coach, with Noy expressing confidence in Arel’s abilities.
“He was very active in training, highly dominant, and has a lot of credit for this season. Everything depends on the squad that is built around him and the support he receives. Gal is an excellent professional, and I firmly believe he can succeed, and he has a significant part in our success.”
Regarding his recent call-up to the national team, Noy expressed his excitement and appreciation: “I’m thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to represent my country and wear the national team jersey. It’s a dream come true!”
This insight into Itamar Noy’s achievements and aspirations showcases not only his development as a player but also highlights the values of duty, teamwork, and ambition that characterize his approach to football and life
