Murder Indictment Filed Against Man Who Set His Ex-Wife Ablaze After Threatening Her Life

An indictment for murder has been filed against Abed Alahadi Mahamid from Ara’ara, following the tragic death of his ex-wife, Inan. Mahamid is accused of deliberately igniting her vehicle, resulting in severe injuries and burns that covered 98% of her body. Inan ultimately succumbed to her injuries in the hospital days later.
History of Violence
Mahamid had previously served time in prison for assaulting Inan and making threats against her. Between January and September 2025, he completed a sentence for these offenses; however, he continued to harass her even while incarcerated. Days after his release from prison, Mahamid approached Inan’s home, seeking to see their daughter. Upon Inan’s refusal to open the door, he reportedly became aggressive, banging on the door while yelling threats and obscenities, claiming he would disfigure her face.
In a premeditated act, Mahamid armed himself with a gasoline container and intended to kill Inan through arson. The deliberate igniting of her vehicle resulted in critical burns and a dire medical condition for Inan. She was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away 19 days later on November 29, 2025, due to multiple organ failure caused by the burns and smoke inhalation.

In their request for Mahamid’s detention until the conclusion of proceedings, prosecutors emphasized the severity of his actions, highlighting the cruelty and danger he posed. The petrol was poured over Inan while she was seated in her vehicle, demonstrating his intent to cause fatal harm.
