Major Weapons Cache Discovered in Women’s Clothing Store in Hebron
Security Operations Lead to Arrest
Israeli security forces announced the discovery of a significant weapons cache concealed within a women’s clothing store in Hebron, located in the Judean Mountains. This operation was part of an initiative aimed at arresting a suspect involved in arms trafficking. Upon their arrival at the store, the suspect attempted to evade capture by closing the shop but was apprehended by security forces before he could escape.
Unearthing the Weapons Cache
Following the suspect’s arrest, troops initiated a thorough search of the premises, which yielded four airsoft rifles, 14 airsoft handguns, numerous packages of airsoft pellets, over 130 face coverings, 12 knuckle dusters, four swords, 18 cans of pepper spray, and dozens of additional weapon-related items. All seized items were subsequently transferred to security forces for further investigation and processing.
Related Incident Sparks Investigation
In a separate incident on March 8, Palestinians released footage showing Israeli soldiers rolling a vehicle into a ravine in the Soreef area, north of Hebron. The video depicts the car being tossed into the ravine, with claims from the Palestinians that the driver was detained. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged the incident as known to their commanders and stated that it is under investigation. They noted that the vehicle was deemed suspicious and unregulated, marked for towing. However, the decision to push the vehicle into the ravine was deemed a serious breach of IDF protocol. As a result, the commanding offstartr has been suspended pending outcomes from the inquiry.
Through these incidents, Israeli security forces demonstrate their ongoing commitment to addressing illicit arms trafficking, while also reflecting on the challenges faced during operational engagements in sensitive areas
