Tensions Rise as Netanyahu Addresses Iranian Citizens Amid Military Actions
Direct Appeal to the Iranian People
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a direct message to the citizens of Iran late Saturday, addressing them in Persian amidst a major military operation underway in Iran. Netanyahu described the campaign as “start of the largest military actions in the history of the State of Israel,” aimed at targeting the nuclear and ballistic missile infrastructure of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
Despite the aggressive military stance, Netanyahu emphasized that “our struggle is against the Islamic regime – not against the Iranian people.” In a video posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the Prime Minister proclaimed, “We are destroying the threat. We have eliminated senior commanders, nuclear scientists, critical enrichment facilities, and a significant portion of Iran’s missile arsenal. The campaign continues.”
Call for Resistance Against Oppressive Regime
In his address, Netanyahu underscored that the Iranian regime is presently vulnerable, urging the Iranian populace to rise against it. He stated, “The regime does not understand the magnitude of the blow it has received – or the severity of the blows that are yet to come. It has never been weaker. This is your moment, people of Iran, to revolt.” He concluded his message with a slogan adopted during recent civil protests in Iran: “Woman, Life, Freedom,” reiterating, “Our struggle is against a tyrannical regime that oppresses you and leaves you in poverty, not against you. The people of Israel and the Persian people have been friends since the days of Cyrus the Great – it is time to unite around your heritage and lead change.”
U.S. Intelligence Reports Possible Outcomes
In parallel developments, CNN reported that sources within U.S. intelligence are discussing Israel’s ambitions regarding the potential overthrow of the Iranian regime. This objective reportedly features in the strategic discussions within Israel.
According to the report, the U.S. administration under President Donald Trump has not yet made a decision on whether to support or oppose such a move. While coordination between Jerusalem and Washington continues at military and intelligence levels, the broader strategic question of utilizing the current momentum to promote regime change in Tehran remains open.
This ongoing situation highlights the increasing tensions in the region, with potential implications for international relations and security dynamics involving both Israel and Iran
