Maccabi Netanya Ownership Transfer Meeting Scheduled for Next Week
Committee to Finalize Ownership Transition
The Rights Transfer Committee of the Israeli Football Association is set to convene again next week to work towards a final approval of the ownership transfer of Maccabi Netanya from Ayal Segal to Elia Group, led by Russ Castin. The initial meeting took place via Zoom yesterday, with Maccabi Netanya represented by CEO Gil Lev and prospective owner’s representative Tomer Shalom, along with Castin who introduced himself briefly.
This meeting lasted over two hours, focusing primarily on technical documentation that needs to be corrected by the incoming ownership group. The intent is to process the ownership transfer according to the regulations, which is expected to be a technical procedure. This is in line with the committee’s prior experiences, such as the transfer of Hapoel Ramat Gan to Amir Hamiya, which required five meetings.
Maccabi Netanya Prepares for New Season
In unrelated developments, Maccabi Netanya has commenced its pre-season training without the foreign players. The team is currently training at a facility in Even Yehuda while maintenance work is being conducted on the main pitch at the “Shapira” complex. The team is scheduled to return to its home ground following a training camp in Poland, which is set to begin in approximately two weeks.
Pursuing New Signings
Maccabi Netanya is also looking to strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming season. The club was reportedly close to signing left-back Yarden Cohen but faced competition from Beitar Jerusalem, which made a late entry into negotiations. As a result, Cohen opted for a move to the Yellow-and-Black.
Currently, the focus is on forward Wilson Harris. Despite expressing concerns about returning to the country due to the ongoing conflict with Iran, the club remains optimistic. In light of a recent ceasefire and the calming situation over the past few days, Maccabi Netanya is confident that an agreement can be reached in a short timeframe.
