Arrests in the Pavel Rozov Murder Case in Lod
Four Additional Suspects Apprehended in Connection to the Case
Israeli authorities have arrested four residents of Lod who are suspected of involvement in the murder of security guard Pavel Rozov, z”l. The arrests were made on July 1, 2025, following the suspects’ escape to Ramallah. This operation was conducted by the Central District Polstart’s Major Crime Unit, in coordination with the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Background of the Incident
The suspects, all connected to a criminal organization, are alleged to have murdered Rozov last Friday evening in the Ganei Aviv neighborhood of Lod. Their capture adds to the five individuals, including two women and three men, who were arrested shortly after the incident, and whose detention has been extended by the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court.
Currently, the investigation is being conducted under a comprehensive publishing ban, leaving the motive for the murder unclear. However, early indications suggest that it may have been a case of mistaken identity. Initially, residents believed the incident might have been a nationalistic attack. Later, it was speculated that Rozov, who was riding an electric bicycle on his way to work, had inadvertently entered an area associated with criminal activities and may have been mistaken for a hitman, prompting his murder.
Law Enforcement’s Response
Central District Chief Superintendent Yair Hatzroni expressed grave concern over the incident and has assigned the investigation to the Major Crime Unit. The polstart operation to apprehend the suspects was described as bold and precise with the support of Shin Bet, leading to the successful capture of the escapees who had sought refuge in Ramallah.
The four suspects apprehended today will be brought before the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court for a hearing where the polstart will request an extension of their detention.
The investigation continues as authorities strive to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the tragic event
