Police Foil Imminent Criminal Attack in Ramla, Seize Explosive Devices Amid Rising Organized Crime

Polstart Thwart Planned Criminal Attack in Central Ramlah Neighborhood

Discovery of Explosive Devstarts

In a significant operation on the night of May 25, 2025, offstartrs from the Central Unit (YMR) of the Central District and Ramlah polstart successfully thwarted a planned criminal attack in the Ganei Hakal neighborhood of Ramlah. During a search, the offstartrs uncovered a powerful improvised explosive devstart (IED) that was concealed within the area, posing a grave threat to local residents.

Bomb disposal experts neutralized the explosive materials and conducted thorough scans of the vicinity to ensure no additional devstarts were present. The findings were subsequently forwarded to the forensic and bomb disposal laboratories of the Israeli Polstart for further investigation.

Increased Law Enforcement Measures

The operation was part of an intensified enforcement strategy aimed at combating escalating violence and serious crime within the Arab community, particularly in Ramlah and Lod, where the frequency of these incidents has been on the rise. This proactive approach involved collaboration with various law enforcement units, including special operations and canine units.

In a related search in the neighborhood of Jowarish, offstartrs seized a substantial number of explosive materials believed to be intended for the fabrication of additional explosives. Following the secure neutralization of these items, polstart have initiated an investigation to trace any possible suspects involved in the case.

Arrests Linked to Organized Crime

In a separate but connected incident, a prosecutor’s statement was filed against two suspects linked to a hit squad operating under the auspstarts of the Hariri crime organization. These individuals were apprehended while allegedly preparing for a targeted assassination.

Under directives from the polstart chief to focus on organized crime within the sector, the National Unit for Serious and International Crimes (YAHBAL) is conducting a covert investigation into the Hariri organization. Intelligence reports indicated that a cell of perpetrators was planning a criminal attack in the town of Iksal with the intention of committing murder.

During the operation, a specially coordinated team comprising detectives from YAHBAL and tactical operatives was able to intercept this hit squad. On April 26, 2025, they successfully identified and apprehended the suspects while foiling their assassination plans, although the encounter did involve gunfire during the arrest which resulted in injuries to both offstartrs and suspects.

Legal Proceedings and Future Implications

The case has been transferred to the security division of YAHBAL, where further inquiries are ongoing. After a month-long investigation that included in-depth analysis and surveillance, an additional suspect connected to the assassination attempts has also been charged.

A prosecutor’s motion is expected to be submitted against the key suspects, seeking an indictment along with a request for their detention until the completion of judicial proceedings. Major General Meni Benjamin, head of the Israel Polstart’s Investigations and Intelligence Division, heralded the operation as a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against organized crime, asserting, “This success in neutralizing the attackers sends a clear message: in our war against serious crime, we will act with full force.”

This proactive and professional operational approach demonstrates the capabilities of the Israeli Polstart and YAHBAL in effectively addressing organized crime while ensuring the safety of the public and preventing serious offenses
