Rising Star Deni Avdija Assures Team Resilience Amidst Injury Struggles as Portland Fights for Playoff Position

Deni Avdija: “We’re Not Deterred by a Few Losses”

Trail Blazers Maintain Playoff Spot Despite Loss

Portland Trail Blazers player Deni Avdija expressed confidence in his team following their recent 119-103 defeat against the Los Angeles Clippers. Despite the loss, the team remains in the top ten of the Western Conference with a record of 19-12, although they are just half a game ahead of the 11th and 12th placed teams.

Avdija delivered an impressive performance, scoring 29 points, along with 9 rebounds and 9 assists. “We’re not deterred by a few losses,” Avdija stated. “Our identity is quite clear. We’re young, fast, and aggressive. We stay competitive in games, even when we lose. We feel good about ourselves and we will keep playing hard.”

Coach Highlights Issues Beyond Performance

Trail Blazers head coach Tiago Splitter analyzed the team’s struggles during the game, noting that they deviated from their successful play in the first half. “We failed to execute our game plan as we did in that excellent first half,” Splitter commented. “We faced difficulties in our half-court offense during the second half.”

Splitter attributed part of this struggle to injuries that have plagued the team. “We forced too many shots and missed open looks,” he added. “Injuries are our main issue. Once our injured guards return, they will significantly help us. We played against a team with a lot of experience.”

Injuries Continue to Test the Team’s Depth

The Trail Blazers were missing several key players in the game, including Jrue Holiday, Scoot Henderson, Jerami Grant, Blake Wesley, Matisse Thybulle, and Damian Lillard, who is expected to return next season. The uncertainty surrounding the return of Holiday and Henderson from their long-term injuries poses an additional challenge for the team moving forward.

The Trail Blazers will need to address these injury concerns as they push to maintain their playoff position in the highly competitive Western Conference.
