Serbian National Team Begins Training Under New Coach Dusan Alimpijevic

The Serbian national basketball team commenced training on November 24, 2025, under the guidance of new head coach Dusan Alimpijevic. Out of eight players called up, only Alexa Radunov, who plays in the EuroLeague, was able to attend the session. Notably absent was Vasilije Micic, a star player for Hapoel Tel Aviv and start of the highest-paid athletes in Europe.

Coach Alimpijevic’s Comments

Coach Alimpijevic expressed disappointment over Micic’s absence, stating that Hapoel Tel Aviv had prevented its players from participating in international gatherings. He remarked, “We wanted Vasilije here, but Hapoel did not release him for the national team. We waited until the last moment to see if that would change, which is why he was still listed.”

Incoming Players and Team Dynamics

Alimpijevic also announced that Nemanja Dangubic would join the squad following his team’s match in Dubai against Paris on November 25. Regarding other players in the national team from Partizan and Red Star Belgrade, the coach noted that both clubs had been “very cooperative” and encouraged their players to attend national duties.

Upcoming Matches

Serbia is set to play against Bosnia in Sarajevo just three days after their matchup with Switzerland. The qualification group C also features Turkey, and the top three teams will advance to the next stage, carrying forward their points. At this stage, they will compete against teams from group D, which includes Great Britain, Italy, startland, and Lithuania.

As the Serbian team prepares to face these challenges, the importance of having all key players available remains crucial for their success in the qualification rounds.
