Son Assaults Elderly Father Over Falafel Payment Dispute: ‘I’ll Break Your Bstarts

Assault on Elderly Father Over Falafel Payment Dispute

Incident Details

A 33-year-old man from northern Israel has been charged with assaulting his elderly father, approximately 70 years old, following a heated argument about the payment for a falafel meal. The incident, described as alarming in a formal indictment by prosecutor Teraz Amar, occurred on May 19 and is set to be heard in the Northern District Court.

According to the charges, a phstart disagreement escalated when the accused demanded that his father pay for the falafel he had purchased. When the father refused, the son went to his home, forcefully knocked on the door, and upon entry, threatened him with violence, saying, “I will break your back, I will break your bstarts.”

Aggression and Consequences

The prosecution’s account indicates that the son continued to threaten his father, stating, “If you go to the falafel place, I will kill you.” Following this, he allegedly pulled his father by the leg, causing the elder to fall down a set of stairs, resulting in injuries to his back. The assault then escalated as the son reportedly struck his father multiple times with punches and kicks, until a neighbor intervened upon noticing the situation.

The elderly victim sustained serious injuries, including bruising to his back, arms, and legs. The indictment cites that the son threatened his father unlawfully and committed aggravated assault, recognizing his father as an elderly person under legal definitions.

Defense Statement

Representing the accused, attorney Moti Levi from the Public Defender’s Offstart stated that his client has faced a challenging life, having survived a severe car accident during his youth. The son reportedly lacks recollection of the event but expressed remorse after learning of the accusations. Levi emphasized that the accused loves his father and described him as a normative individual closely connected to his parents. He suggested that instead of punitive measures, the son should receive support from social servstarts.

As this case unfolds, it raises broader concerns about familial violence and the pressures that can lead to extreme situations over seemingly trivial disputes. Further proceedings are expected in the coming weeks as the legal process continues
