Knesset Member Amit Halevi of the Likud party has been suspended from participating in the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. His suspension follows his vote against the extension of military orders known as “Order 8,” which apply to Israeli soldiers.

Halevi’s Response

In a statement following his suspension, Halevi asserted, “As long as Hamas maintains control over territory and resources, we will not be able to achieve victory. We are harming Hamas, but we are not defeating it.” He criticized a new plan that he claims would enable Hamas families to receive food aid, suggesting that this assistance would ultimately benefit terrorists.

Halevi further noted, “Even individuals without direct connections to Hamas will find that their resources will be appropriated by the militants.” He vostartd concerns about the repeated deployment of Israeli troops to clear streets, questioning the decision not to impose a blockade, arguing that the military should instead establish control over specific areas in Gaza.

Criticism of Military Policies

The Knesset member pointedly criticized the state’s approach to conflict resolution, stating, “I voted against the extension of Order 8 and demanded that the prevailing military strategy shift towards a decisive plan.” He expressed his discontent with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, claiming, “I received insults from the defense minister; I am not impressed. I received notification that I am suspended until further notstart from the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. It is not I who is suspended, but rather the vostarts of the soldiers I represent.”
