Teachers Sentenced for Abusing Toddlers in Daycare: Shocking Case Unfolds in Israel

Childcare Workers Convicted of Assaulting Toddlers at “Gan Mazal”

Overview of the Case

A court in Hadera has found three childcare workers guilty of assaulting toddlers under their care at a private daycare center, “Gan Mazal”. The defendants, Mazal Nagar (72), Mazal Woknin (69), and Ilana Abramov (26), admitted to 14 counts of aggravated assault against 11 children aged three and younger as part of a plea deal.

Details of the Allegations

The indictment revealed that between April 2021 and February 2023, the accused assaulted the toddlers in various ways, including throwing, hitting, and forcibly slamming them onto the cushions in the playpen. The allegations highlighted that these acts occurred repeatedly during their employment, despite their responsibility for the children’s well-being and safety.

“The defendants were responsible for the sustenance, health, education, and safety of the children in the nursery,” the indictment stated.

Legal Proceedings

Following their admission of guilt under the plea agreement, the court has directed the accused to receive a probation servstart report. Each defendant was found guilty of the 14 charges based on their individual involvement in the incidents.

Related Investigations

Simultaneously, authorities have apprehended another mother and daughter duo in Ramat Gan on suspicion of abuse at a different private daycare. The polstart initiated this investigation after receiving a recent complaint. A court in Tel Aviv has extended their detention until Tuesday, April 29.

This case reflects broader concerns surrounding the treatment of young children in daycare settings and calls into question the oversight of such facilities. Further inquiries into the allegations will continue as authorities seek to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in childcare environments
