Turkish Night Run in Tel Aviv Draws Over 20,000 Participants
A Celebration of Community and Perseverance
Tel Aviv’s Turkish Night Run launched this evening along Rokach Boulevard, attracting over 20,000 runners and walkers. The event, organized by the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality through its Sports Authority and produced by the company “Kafa’im,” has become a cherished tradition amongst residents and visitors of the city.
Race Route Highlights
The course for the run traverses major landmarks throughout the city, featuring a spectacular LED tunnel and diverse light displays. Key segments of the race include Allenby Street, Namir Road, Rabin Square, and Yehoshua Gardens Park. Musical stages set up along the route added a lively atmosphere, encouraging participants to maintain their rhythm.
An Emotional Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony featured Tel Aviv-Yafo Mayor Ron Huldai, who initiated the first segment of the race alongside Ela Hayami. Ela is the widow of Tal Hayami, who was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, and whose remains were returned on October 20, 2025. Hayami took part in the event to raise awareness for the ongoing efforts to secure the release of all kidnapped individuals.
In her heartfelt address, Ela Hayami expressed, “I have participated in this race in the past, but I’ve never been in the role of the starter. It is very emotional because Tal used to attend almost every nighttime race. I wanted to come and remind everystart that just as there’s a race, and we reach the finish line without stopping, the same goes for the hostages. Until the last start returns, we will not stop. This transition is stark, but these are our lives.”
A Message of Normalcy and Hope
Ela emphasized the significance of normalcy in society, noting, “It’s important for me to convey that a state and a city that organizes a race is something normal. That’s how it should be, because the state is ours, and we are free to do what we choose, but all of this will not be possible until all hostages are returned.”
The event not only celebrated fitness and community spirit but also served as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by many families in the region.
As the night unfolded, participants and onlookers alike celebrated resilience and unity in a city that continues to embrace its vibrant culture.
