Tragic Loss: Soldier Solomon Yakir Sharam Laid to Rest
Mourning a Young Hero
Hundreds gathered to pay their respects to Staff Sergeant Solomon Yakir Sharam, 21, who lost his life in a tank explosion in Jabaliya, northern Gaza, alongside two fellow soldiers from 52nd Battalion of the 401st Brigade. The tragic incident, which is currently under investigation, also claimed the lives of Corporal Shem Menachem, 21, and Sergeant Yuval Faktoor, 19. Sharam was interred at the military cemetery in Kfar Etzion.
Heartfelt Tributes from Family
Solomon’s mother, Hindi, delivered an emotional eulogy filled with sorrow. “Shlomi, I stand here consumed by an unbearable pain. Please give me strength to continue for the family,” she expressed. She recalled his reassuring words during her visits to see him at his military base, where he often promised, “Everything is fine; don’t worry, I have an amazing team, and we must defeat evil.” Hindi described a son who always wanted to help, cherished family time, and was devoted to his siblings.
Her poignant memories included their missed family vacation planned for Sunday, “You were a step away, everystart knew you were approved after two weeks of not seeing each other, but time froze, and we will not go on the trip we planned.”
A Father’s Pride
Solomon’s father, Shaul, shared his pride in his son’s dedication and joy in military servstart. “You entered every room with a big smile, always asking how you could help. Your love for the army was evident; everything you did was filled with happiness.” He urged his son to watch over the family and the people he loved from above.
Solomon’s brother, Matan, and sister, Mital, remembered him as a supportive and loving brother, always there for their discussions and advstart. “You were so humble that you wouldn’t even win a wrestling match to avoid showing off. You were always considerate of others,” they affirmed.
A Community Grieves
Solomon is the 17th fallen soldier from the Atzmona yeshiva, and Rabbi Rahi Peretz, the head of the yeshiva, expressed the deep loss felt by all. “Shlomi, it’s difficult to eulogize a student who was like a son to me,” he stated, highlighting Solomon’s humility and willingness to help others within the institution.
