Future Plans for Youth Division at Maccabi Haifa
Maccabi Haifa has confirmed the continuation of contracts for promising young midfielders Itai Hagi and Noam Segal. Hagi, born in 2008, plays for the club’s U-17 team, while Segal, born in 2010, is part of the U-15 squad. Both players have shown significant potential and have contributed to their respective teams this season.
Itai Hagi: A Rising Star
Hagi has been with Maccabi Haifa for two years, following his development at Neve Yossef and a season with Hapoel Tel Aviv. He recently signed a two-year extension with the green club. This season, Hagi and his teammates are targeting a league and cup double, as the U-17 team is currently topping the U-17 league table and is set to compete in the state cup final against Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Over the course of the season, Hagi has made 28 appearances under coach Adrian Rochet, netting start goal in a 5-1 victory against Hapoel Petah Tikva. The 16-year-old’s journey began in the 2017/18 season, where he played at Neve Yossef and recorded a total of 102 appearances before moving to Hapoel Tel Aviv in the 2022/23 season for 33 matches. Since joining Maccabi Haifa, Hagi has added 57 appearances to his record.
Noam Segal: Consistency and Promise
Segal, who joined Maccabi Haifa this season after several years with Maccabi Netanya, has signed a three-year extension through his representative, Gilad Katz. Currently, he and his teammates are poised to finish the season in second place in the U-15 league standings. Additionally, Segal’s team is gearing up for the state cup final against Hapoel Tel Aviv scheduled for May 21, 2025.
Born in May 2010, Segal began his football journey with the youth division of Maccabi Netanya during the 2018/19 season. Up until the midpoint of the current season, he has made 144 appearances, transitioning from a standout performance scoring 25 goals in the U-13 team last season to contributing ten goals across all competitions this year.
Maccabi Haifaโs commitment to nurturing young talent like Hagi and Segal reflects the clubโs dedication to its youth program and ambition for future success on both national and international stages
